Hunter aired on NBC from September 1984 through April 1991 and included 152 episodes over 7 seasons. A made-for-television movie based on the series aired in April 1995.

The series starred former NFL player Fred Dryer as Detective Sergeant Rick Hunter and Stepfanie Kramer as his partner, Sergeant Dee Dee McCall, homicide investigators with the Los Angeles Police Department.
